Just as we here at the Cavaliers official Web Blog were packing to leave for our holiday for the week, the club sent us the results for the July Player of the Month awards.

Prolific striker Flavio won the prestigious award and was presented it by Director of Football at the Cavaliers, Ravi Bayara at the Club’s training facility this morning.

Flavio racked up more assists than anyone in the team last month, aswell as netting quite a lot for himself. So well done Flavio and let’s hope it continues next season.

And now, we really are going on holiday for a week! (See post below)

On Holiday

The team here at the Cavaliers Official WebBlog are having their week off this next week. The team, and the web site will return next Sunday, so that’s about 10 days time from today.

So check back on 17th August for a large update on the Cavaliers.

Rafa 'disappointed' with Burton

Mike Burton has yet again been handed a load of abuse by inconsistent goalkeeper Rafa. Rafa has once again gone to the press to tell of how manager Mike Burton is an ‘evil’ and ‘terrible’ manager who breaks promises.

Rafa claims that he was promised the Sub Cavaliers would have a load of fixtures by August, and that he would get the occasional first team opportunity. However he has not been given any of these, and he demands more matches, or he said he will leave.

Meanwhile Scott Lycett went about telling Burton of his worries in a nicer way. Burton and Lycett sat down on Monday to discuss what Scott should do in the future.

I know, I know its the 4th August.

Funded by The Cavaliers main sponsor, Phone a Loan it’s time for you to vote for who you think the Cavaliers player of the month was, despite it being the 4th of August already!

So, reading back through all the updates the site has made, out of the following nominations, who should be the player of the month?

Nominations:

Alex Junio – He has been a revalation since he was signed by Burton, and he has now scored 48 goals in 71 matches, all in July/early August!

Flavio – Playing alongside Junio up front, he has made more assists than anyone in the team this month, and has basically gave all of Junio’s goals straight to him, aswell as scoring some himself!

Lior Rafaelov – rafaelov has already scored 12 goals in 31 matches, and he is only a midfielder. Terrific 30 or 40 yard screamers are the norm for this Russian Cattle-farm hero.

Dimitri Djollo – While Djollo is far from a first team regular, when Siwahla gets one of his many injuries, Djollo has to step in on the right wing. He has been phenomenal cover and Burton in particular is pleased with Dimitri’s form.

So, how do you vote?

simple leave a comment below with the name of who your player of the month is – it couldn’t be simpler! It takes just 30 seconds to click ‘comments’ at the bottom of this post, and then leave a reply. So go on, vote!

A slightly more disappointing day was had by all at the cattle Farm yesterday. The Cavaliers slipped a few places in the rankings, they made a loss in terms of finances again, and they had a mixed day on the field too.

Here are the EEFA results from the 4th August.

Early Evening League Preliminary Stage: Castleraegh Colts 1 – 0 Cavaliers (LOSE)

EEFA Cup Last 16 1st leg: Peterbrough Hammers XI 0 – 2 Cavaliers (WIN)

Early Evening League Preliminary Stage: Cavaliers 1 – 2 Never Walk Alone FC (LOSE)

Early Evening League Preliminary Stage: Cavaliers 1 – 0 Bradford City FC (WIN)

Early Evening League Preliminary Stage: Brunswick FC 1 – 1 Cavaliers (DRAW)

Costa Del Sol Second Round 1st Leg: Cavaliers 0 – 2 Brunswick FC (LOSE)

Costa Del Sol Cup first round group A: Cavaliers 2 – 1 Benji FC (WIN)

Costa Del Sol Cup first Round Group A: Super Great Team that is managed by Levi: 2 – 3 Cavaliers (WIN)

Early Evening League Preliminary stage: Benji FC 0 – 1 Cavaliers (WIN)

Costa Del Sol First Round group A: Cavaliers 2 – 1 Motherwell Misfits Fussball Bund (WIN)

Early Evening League Preliminary stage: Cavaliers 1 – 4 Toxteth tigers (LOSE)

So, another great day for Cavaliers fans, with another big win over Motherwell Misfits, and although they lost in the League again, Cavaliers have qualified for the second round of the Costa Del Sol cup.

A magnificent display from the cavaliers, and mainly Flavio saw Chester le street manage an amazing 4-1 victory over hot competition favourites, Never Walk Alone FC in the EEFA Champions League Group E fixture.

2 goals from Flavio, 1 from Alex Junio who later went off injured, and a 30 yard screamer from Lior Rafaelov sent the home fans wild,  and put the Cavaliers through to the next stage of the competition, and made them winners of their group, which was beyond all expectations when the draw was made.

Cavaliers beat Twin-Town Job Seekers XI, Peterbrough hammers and Never Walk Alone FC to the 1 and only qualifying position in the group, and manager Mike Burton is said to be delighted.

Despite having  a lowered capacity crowd due to the recent blaze at the Cattle Farm, the 6,000 spectaters drew up a huge atmosphere and a pitch invasion at the end.

While it may just be a group stage they have won – it has to be remembered, Cavaliers were in a hugely difficult group and have exceeded all expectations.

Injury Crisis.

There is an ‘injury-crisis’ at the Cavaliers today – 4 first team players could be out for a while.

Siwahla will be out until tomorrow morning

Eyal Meshumar will be out until this evening

Flavio will be out until tomorrow evening

and Bruno Weigelt will be out until this afternoon.

Lets hope the Cavaliers can pull through this so called ‘crisis’.

Daily Spin 29.7.08

Today’s Daily Spin is actually rather large and includes some of yesterday’s news too.

Fire at the cattle Farm:

Flames

Flames

A terrifying fire that started in a house next door to the Cattle Farm ripped across the street and caused havoc in the Cattle Farm it’s self. It was around 11 PM last night when the fire hit the stadium, so luckily no body was hurt, however a large amount of the stadium’s main stand has been torn down by the flames, as have the teams dressing rooms and facilities. The man who was in the house where the fire started has got slight burns, but luckily no further injuries.

There has been no official announcement from the club yet.

Flavio admits he is struggling:

After a very strong opening week at the club, Flavio’s form then dropped, and the past week he has netted just once in 12 starts.

However he said he is struggling today, and we caught up with him for a quick exclusive chat:

‘I am struggling – there’s no doubt. I think in the past week or so, we have started to play more difficult opposition, and I need to improve my form and make that step up so I can survive against these new, better teams we play. Although at my past team, we were always playing teams in the top 100 rankings and I did well there. Im not sure – but I need to improve, definitely’

Tyrrel signs more players:

George Tyrrel has re-signed several players in his Sub-Cavaliers already. these include Sonny Cobbs, Scott Lycester and previous first teamer Rafa.

Muscalu ‘disappointed’ with burton:

Christian Muscalu, the Cavaliers attacking play maker has said he is very disappointed that manager Mike Burton is failing to play him in big first team matches, and has said if it doesnt get resolved – he will look elsewhere.

The Chester-le-street Cavaliers narrowly missed out on a top three finish in this 12 club league by just 3 points. Unfortunately, they needed to finish in the top 3 to recieve prize money, however this brilliant little league has gave the Cavaliers’ inevitable experience for the Season and Leagues ahead.

Well Done Cavaliers.

Djollo sits disappointed after the match

Djollo sits disappointed after the match

Moneypoint FC were the victors, we are sad to report. Chester-le-street one the first league with a comfortable 2-1 victory, but the away match earlier today saw the cavaliers fall from the competition that they should have done well in – in the first round.

The cavaliers, in their red away kit got beat 2-0, after star striker Alex Junio went off injured in the first minute after a terrible challenge from Zapata.

Is their a curse on the cavaliers’ away strip? it seems ridiculous, but they have played 6 game sin this new red shirt, and lost all 6.

Dimitri Djollo was particularly disappointed with the loss. The Right Winger, currently standing in for Siwahla missed two chance sin the final 5 minutes – which he should have scored.

Hopefully the boys can pick themselves up for the EEFA season which starts in the coming days.

Yesterday, manager Mike Burton appointed George Tyrrel as the sub-cavaliers manager and coach.

We caught up with George after his first training session with the reserves.

Chester-le-street Web site: Hello George, how are you?

George Tyrrel: Well, after a fantastic first day with the boys today – I am a brilliant mood.

CLS: Well that’s good. So you did enjoy the first session?

GT: Definitely. The enthusiasm form the boys was amazing. Considering alot of them havent played in a match for a couple of weeks now didn’t seem to hamper them and they were still trying their best.

CLS: What sort of things happened at the training session this morning?

GT: Well, it wasn’t intense obviously. There was a quick introduction from myself, then we all sort of tried to bond and have a laugh for a while. they went through a quick fitness test just so i could see where exactly they were in terms of health. It was really good, and hopefully soon we can move slowly into more heavy exercises.

CLS: overall, are you happy at how they all did in the tests?

GT: Yeah, well they could have been better obviously, but these 12 – 15 lads havent really had a proper game for weeks, and yeah I was pretty impressed.

CLS: So, the team will be playing more matches soon?

GT: it depends. You know, we are looking in that sort of direction, however it is quite difficult, and ofcourse the main Cavaliers team needs to be priority for the club. But it is definitely something we would like.

CLS: well, good luck in the future.

GT: Thanks, and yeah let’s hope if we do move into matches – we can be successful. :)

Rising in the Rankings once more:

The cavaliers continue to rise in the world ranking, after the geeks at the Union of football Federations decided to rank the cavaliers a very high 373rd! This means in just a week, the Cavaliers have gone from 548th to 373rd! Almost 200 places!

They have also rated the men from the cattle-farm as a ‘2 star’ team, an excellent achievement for everyone involved.

Burton is learning!

Meanwhile, away from the pitch, Mike Burton is currently training in several different coaching and management fields. For example this morning he received his Level 3 coaching badge amongst other qualifications. These can only help chester-le-street in the long run, eh?

Tyrrel hired to run reserves:

Surely we can’t be far off the Sub-Cavaliers becoming a permanent team now? Well, Burton has brought in good friend George Tyrrel to run the side and coach the Sub team.

They have played a couple of matches before, but now they must be on the verge of playing permanently after this appointment.

Chester-le-street have started a brand new tournament entitled ‘FMD premiership’. This 8 team league will feature many of the cavaliers’ big rivals, and should prove a brilliant contest between several similarly ranked teams.

I other competition news, the Cavaliers are said to be looking into the possibility of bringing back the El Magnifico Liga for a second season. This popular tournament finished just over a week ago, and all teams that were in it have asked for it to be brought back.

Also, manager Mike Burton will find out what league his team will be playing in in the EEFA next season, be it the Premiership or the Championship. The line-up for the two main EEFA leagues should be decided by federation leaders Jordan Longbottom and Rob Bowen tomorrow sometimes.

Each day (well, not every day, more like every other day) the CLS cavaliers official web site will break the day down with a short update, direct from the cattle farm. In these updated, every small bit of news, that doesn’t need it’s own piece will be included.

Bogdan and Burton hold ‘clear the air’ talks:

Bogdanovic

Bogdan Bogdanovic has been upset with life in Durham for the past week, ever since the arrivals of Flavio and Alex Junio. He is one of the club’s longest serving players, and a very popular figure with the fans, however he has been ’surplus to requirements’ according to his own words.

Burton has made it public he wants ‘Boggy’ to stay with the club, but Bogdan himself wants first team oppurtunities, somehting he feels he will not get at the Cavaliers anymore.

The pair sat down today, for over an hour, discussing ways to ‘clear the air;, and keep Bogdanovic happy. The results seem positive.

Sub-Cavaliers re-sign Cowan and Friend:

Cown at his old club - Newcastle

Cown at his old club - Newcastle

The sub-cavaliers have re-signed both Ross Cowan and george friend on 2 year deals. The pair used to be first teamers for the Cavaliers, but after the ‘re-vamp’ in recent weeks, both are said to be happy to remain at the club anyway.

Valley-Road Mini league draw:

Chester-le-street have drawn Shane Kavanagh’s Moneypoint FC in the first round of this tournament. Moneypoint and Chester-le-street have always been fairly big rivals, and Kavanagh and Burton are known to have a ‘rivalry’, so this is sure to be a good match! The game will be played in the upcoming days, and as ever the CLS Cavaliers official website will be there with all the exclusive coverage!

So, stay tuned to find out what comes of today’s stories!
